I have two new sets up. First off, I recently visited my hometown for business and wanted to take the opportunity to shoot the revitalization of our downtown. There is a small movement of people who are redoing a lot of warehouses and old buildings in downtown Lynchburg and with it being located on the James river I though it might be quite a dynamic spot for photography. Unfortunately, I only had one afternoon free and the weather wasn’t exactly cooperative. For the majority of the time, the sky was a bright white, not the blue skies studded with clouds that I had hoped for (as in the Tones of Chicago set). Anyways, despite the sky and my time restrictions I snapped for a little bit and pulled four that I think were fairly good. You can see the full set by clicking on the photo or the link.
The second set I actually did on the same trip. When I go back to Lynchburg I stay at home. Since I only see my family a few times a year, I try to take advantage of it when I can. My mom has had a garden as long as I can remember and a few of the flowers were in full bloom one night so I pulled out my ring flash and macro lens and decided to capture a few images of one of the flowers. I tried to mix up the perspective and make them more abstract than just straight on flower photography and I can say that I’m pretty satisfied with the results. I actually thought about having these framed as a series…a little color to offset the amount of monotoned photography I have been doing.
